Touchstone Mental Health - JFK's Legacy

For years, mental health institutes were highly stigmatized. These places started with good intentions, but they turned into asylums, where people were basically warehoused. Then in 1963, just two weeks before his death, President John F. Kennedy signed his last piece of legislation - the Community Mental Health Center Construction Act.
